Chateau Minx, Menton.
Rising on time in Chiswick at 06.00…
… with bags by the door…
… and a punctual taxi at 07.00 to Heathrow Terminal Five. This was my first flight from this newish terminal, opened by REM & Brother Bill at the cost of their luggage.
A straightforward flight to Nice…
… a straightforward collection…
… and delivery to Menton.
Then terror – the key to Chateau Minx would not open the door! Three journeys carrying stuff up the three flights of stairs to the top of this building in the Old Town and then – no way of getting in! Several calls to all responsible parties at the property agents were unreturned & unanswered, other than the agent’s cellphone that ran out of power as soon as they answered.
Some 80 minutes later, as I stood in front of the agent’s office at le Petit Port, a response – and the agent arrived with a client 2 minutes later. The lock to Chateau Minx had been changed. It’s just that this had not been mentioned to us.
With new key in hand, I hurtled back to the Minx, reclining on the stairs, and then we were in. Hoorray! I…

A gentle walk along the front to Napoleon’s Glacerie – empire of ice cream. It was closed. But Menton has a plurality of glaceries & we settled easily on another. A gentle perambulation for groceries, and a visit to Hello Robert Emporium of Wonders I…
